Edinburgh

The Highlands of Scotland
One of the last wildernesses in Europe, no single image can capture the scale and diversity of these northlands. Some favour the forests of Speyside, the dramatic scenery of Glencoe or the long vistas of Caithness. There are many interesting towns and villages, beaches and trails including the city of Inverness - the "capital of the highlands".

Shetland & Orkney
The Outer Isles appeal to visitors looking for the experience of something different. Shetland is special - of the 100 islands that make up Shetland, only 15 are inhabited. On the green islands of Orkney, standing stones and ancient mounds are an everyday part of the landscape and ever present reminders of these ancient northlands.

Argyll, the Isles, Loch Lomond, Stirling & Trossachs
From the romantic highland landscapes of Argyll to the gentler hills of the lowland edge, there is plenty to attract visitors. The islands add a special dimension to any visit here. The Ancient Royal Burgh of Stirling is home to one of Scotland's finest castles and is steeped in history. Within the boundaries lies Scotland's first National Park, embracing the wild glens of the Trossachs, the deep waters of Loch Lomond, Breadalbane's high mountains and the sheltered sea lochs of the Argyll Forest.

Glasgow

Greater Glasgow & the Clyde Valley
Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, overflows with sheer personality and a sense of style. Glasgow is one of Europe's great cultural destinations, Glasgow has over 20 museums and galleries, offers some of the best shopping in Scotland and is a gourmet's paradise. The Clyde Valley offers dramatic ruined castles, industrial heritage, country parks and historic towns.

Ayrshire & Arran
The birthplace of Robert Burns, Scotland's most famous poet abounds with deep history and industrial heritage, from castles to historic buildings. The Isle of Arran, known as Scotland in miniature enjoys the best of what the rest of Scotland has to offer. A beautiful coastline with pretty villages complemented by rugged mountains and woodlands.

Dumfries and Galloway
It is Scotland's most southerly point and undiscovered country with rolling hills and rich farmlands. There is plenty to entertain the visitor including photogenic villages, castles, bird watching and cycling.

Scottish Borders
This is an area of tranquil villages, textile towns and varied scenery including rugged coastlines. Attractions include working woollen mills, craft workshops, magnificent historic houses and great Border abbeys.
